A Rare And Beautiful Early Christmas Morning Sky
As I have done all of my life, I spent Christmas Eve with my family sharing the traditional Polish Holy or Wigilia Supper. It was a nice time, although still with much sadness, since we lost our father two years ago.
After everyone left I was sound asleep, stuffed with fried cod, cabbage, cheese and potato pierogi, peas, lima beans , sauerkraut and my favorite mushroom soup made from wild bolete mushrooms I gathered and dried in the Summer and Fall.
Well someone in our neighborhood decided to welcome Christmas in with fireworks and the explosions woke me up. I wasn’t too happy with this non traditional welcome of Christmas but, being up, decided to peek outside and I saw the beautiful Full moon , the first Full moon on Christmas since in 38 years, shining high overhead.
I dressed and took my camera outside and enjoyed watching the moon in the record breaking temperatures here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. it was 47 degrees well above the average temperatures near 20 degrees. And I remember quite a few Christmas mornings when the temperature was below zero. I was grateful to the folks with the fireworks since the allowed me to experience, and now share, this magical Christmas morning. And hopefully i will fall back into a sound sleep. Wishing all of you and your families a very Merry Christmas.
