No, It's Not A Snow Storm, Just Some Fowl Weather of the Snow Geese Variety, Amazing To Watch!

            <![CDATA[We returned to<span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt?open=514&amp;objID=613318&amp;mode=2"> Middle Creek</a></span> today <span style="color: #000000;">hoping that the cold weather we were having may have delayed the yearly Spring migration of the canada and snow geese, tundra swans and many species of ducks. And it did. Words, photographs and videos can not capture or describe the beauty of  multitudes of birds honking and flying in flocks that turn the fields and skies white. It is breathtakingly beautiful .</span>

We arrived last night to see the fields covered white with snow geese. Group after group took off to return to Middle Creek lake to spend the night on safety of the still frozen water. We watched the flocks return into dark and returned before dawn to see large portions of the lake now covered with swans,  geese and ducks. Their  constant honking filled  the air. It was cold, but that didn’t stop a large number of observers and photographers from waiting for the large flocks to leave the lake in search of food. middle creek snow geese (15 of 15)

We were treated to a beautiful sunrise and then the truly amazing sight of tens of thousands of birds taking to the skies. It is indescribable. A glimpse back to the mass migrations that were all so common in the animal kingdom until man destroyed so many species and their environments. This is a wonderful place and  it plays a big role in protecting and preserving this beautiful Spring time event. The birds may still remain for a few days so plan a visit. I promise you wont be disappointed.

    Wonderful report. While traveling to Sunday morning services. More than a handful of Swans were seen circling over Apple Bees in West Hazleton,Pa. Some say they were Gulls but this report clears the air. It is a exciting time to be a part of Spring.

      Thanks charles. Yes tundra swans do migrate through here. Yes Spring is an exciting time of year. My bear is up and about and has already got one of my feeders. Hoping to get some photos now that my brother put the game camera back up. Enjoy, the 60’s are coming Thursday.
