Reflecting tonight how I much I am affected by the death of someone who I never knew in real life, but who had such a great influence on me. I was always a sci fi fan and I loved Star Trek. I could still describe all 79 episodes.(The City on the Edge of Forever is still my all time favorite)  I spent many hours watching the adventures of the crew of the Star Ship Enterprise (I had a model, of course). and many hours imagining I was exploring the universe with Captain Kirk and Mr Spock.  Loved their interactions as they boldly went where no man had gone before.

As I grew older, I still watched the  countless re-runs that were aired for many years.  I came to know and love every episode and really felt like the crew were part of my life experience. Continued to watch the many motion pictures I became more endeared to the actors. I felt I knew Mr. Spock like i would an old friend and even more so Leonard Nimoy the actor who played him. I learned the Leonard was a pilot, poet and photographer and enjoyed seeing him make guest appearance. It was sad news to hear he is no longer with us. I lost a very big influence from  my childhood. I will always remember the expression “Live long and proper”  and the curiosity Mr’ Spock and Star Trek awakened in my formative years. Rest in peace Leonard.]]>
