Snow and dogs, but no bears, in the Lehigh Gorge.
It was a cloudy, but warmer day in Northeastern Pennsylvania. There is still a deep snow cover, so I decided to walk in the Lehigh Gorge State Park at Glen Onoko to take advantage of the trails left by snow mobiles. Lot of history in this park. The trails follow the Lehigh River and the railroad that has been here since they replaced the old Lehigh Canal. There was the grand Wahnetah hotel near the famous Glen Onoko falls at the turn of the century. The trail also crosses the historic Tide water oil pipeline, one of the first in the country. And it is always nice walking listening to the roar of the Lehigh River and walking through the ravines it cut through the mountains. And even got to see some dog sleds. The dogs did seem to enjoy pulling the sleds but I know some folks have a different opinion. No need to sit inside just because it’s cold and snowy out. So much to see if you only look. Here is a link to some more photos I took on my hike this morning. https://www.flickr.com/photos/green_ridge_adventures/
