It's a Lovely Day in the Neighborhood, an early morning walk through Crooked Tree Belize.

            <![CDATA[What a difference a day makes. Feeling so much better today, after my bout with the local bacteria these past two days. . It's almost good to have a temporary illness to make you appreciate how blessed &nbsp;it is to be in good health. Slept well and was up early. No &nbsp;visible sunrise but some interesting clouds. &nbsp;As usual, very warm and humid.

Walked through the village of Crooked Tree. There is no better time to learn about a town or city then early in the morning when the folks are waking up. Heard the many species of wild birds singing as well as the roosters crowing. Walked past the  horses, cattle and dogs who roam the unpaved streets of this quaint little town.  Most are fenced in but many are released to look for food.  Some folks were up waiting for the bus that would take them to Belize City, about one hour away. Farmers were in there fields and children were playing in there yards before they rode a bus into Belize City for school.

Walked by the many cashew trees for which the town is famous. They are just coming into bloom now. Wish I could stay another week. The make a wine from the cashew flower. It is pretty good, more like our brandy. The photo above is one of the colorful houses nestled in a grove of cashew trees and the photo below is some of the first cashew blossoms.  I walked by the police station, the only supermarket and found the local cemetery. Made my way back on the outskirts of town and took a path into some wooded areas. I love to explore. Saw so many species of colorful birds. And visited my friends at the termite nest. Tore another piece of their roof off so I can get some more photos of them putting it back together. Had better internet service earlier, slow again, so got some photos uploaded to my Flicker page  and this is the link    I’ll try to post a gallery on https://flic.kr/s/aHsk7YcugV my photograph page now. And then off to see what else I can find this morning. This afternoon I visit the zoo. Thanks for sharing my adventure.
